"Just want to wish you all a Very Happy New Year and a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous 2012. It's going to be a busy year for me with plenty of gigs and recording with all my bands, solo work and collaborations with other bands too. Thank you all so much for your support in 2011 and I look forward to catching up with you all during 2012."

Busy Summer

Firstly, please click on the new 'Like' button below! Thanks.

Mark is having a hectic season this year. The Sons of the Delta are busy playing festivals in the UK, Eire and Spain, the Jigantics are also busy performing and recording and Mark is also writing new material for the Sons' next album which they hope to record later this year. To catch up with recent events read Mark's latest blog post.  Also, in October Mark is returning to Ottawa to collaborate once again with the Myers Brothers Blues Band. More on that nearer the time.

Juke Joint Festival 2011

The Sons of the Delta have added a new photo gallery to their with pics taken on our recent trip to Clarksdale Mississippi to play at the 2011 Juke Joint Festival. Click here to visit the Gallery. You can also find two videos taken at the performance here and one of Mark sitting in at the end-of-festival jam here. Enjoy!

Sons of the Delta - new FREE EP download!

The Sons of the Delta have been listening to live 'bootlegged' gig recordings sent to them by fans over the past few months. They are not 'hi-fi' recordings as they were taken mostly on small hand-held machines but they have an energy and capture the atmosphere of the gigs. The Sons decided it would be great to share some of these recordings with the fans, so they have put together a four-track EP called 'Live and Bootlegged' which you can download for FREE. Click here to go to the Merchandise page and grab yours.  Enjoy!

The year ahead

A belated Happy New Year to everyone out there. Hopefully you have all recovered by now and are in full swing with your plans for 2011. Mark's plans include new albums with Sons of the Delta and the Jigantics, more gigs with the Sons in Spain, a full Sons band mini tour in Mississippi in April and festivals near and far for both bands. At the moment he is busy writing songs for the new Sons album and also songs for the ongoing solo project. Look out for new recorded solo material here over the next few months and for the live debut of his 'solo' band, Southern Collision.

3rd Playa Viva Blues Festival

"I had a fantastic time with Sons of the Delta headlining the 3rd Playa Viva Blues Festival in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria at the end of October. The weather was good, apart from a brief shower towards the end of our set, the crowd was large and enthusiastic and the other bands were fantastic and varied in blues styles. It was extremely well organised and we had a great on-stage sound. We recorded our set and we may put some of it on the Sons of the Delta website or maybe our Reverbnation page. I'll let you know when we do. Click here for some great photos and, to read more about the trip and festival, click here to read my blog."

the Jigantics debut gig

It's the debut gig of the Jigantics this coming Friday 8th October at the Playhouse Theatre, Whitstable. The Jigantics is thebrainchild of original Rocky Horror Show drummer, Martin Fitzgibbon. Marty played in Mark's band the Dockery Boys back in the 90s, and currently plays in both the Sons of the Delta band and folk festival favourites, ColvinQuarmby. The 'Jigs' also features Mark, Ade and Rick from the 'Sons' plus Marion Fleetwood of ColvinQuarmby on violin and mandolin. Look out for the Jigantics at a festival, hall or theatre near you in 2011. Check out their growing website and hear some recent recordings.

Blog launched

Mark has just launched his blog to coincide with his trip to Ottawa where he'll be performing and recording with Canada's boogie kings the Myers Brothers Blues Band. He'll be updating it fairly regularly so to keep an eye on his exploits in Canada and musical life in general after he returns, use the new Blog link in the left had menu.

Let Me Down - solo song released

The lead song  from Mark's forthcoming solo CD has been released and is available for download right now on the Merchandise page. You can hear the full track using the player in the left hand column. Mark is currently recording more songs for the CD which will be available later in the year. It truly is a solo project - apart from a few special guests Mark plays all the intruments himself. He feels this is the best way to present the songs exactly as he wants them to be heard. You will be able to hear many of the songs live when Mark Cole's Southern Collision hits the road later in the year.
